TAMPA - A 21-year-old Wimauma man has been convicted of distributing crack cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
Jules Gachette was found guilty Tuesday of dealing the drug twice, on Sept. 25 and Jan. 30. Because one of the drug deals took place within 1,000 feet of a playground, Gachette faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in federal prison when he is sentenced July 27.
Gachette was suspected to be an associate of the Southside gang, which is affiliated with SUR13, officials said. His arrest was one of several in the Wimauma area involving undercover deputies responding to complaints about gang activity.
