DUNEDIN - Pinellas and Hillsborough county sheriff's deputies are dealing with the discovery of a World War II-era mortar shell found in the garage of a Dunedin antiques business this morning.
The business is Designer Warehouse Sale, 949 Broadway, deputies said.
Just after 9 a.m., deputies responded to a call from the owner of the shop, whose name was not released, about the ordnance he found in the garage. Deputies said the owner later recalled that someone had given him the shell as a gift about four years ago.
The Hillsborough County sheriff's bomb squad was called to assist in the safe disposal of the shell. It was undetermined if the round was live.
