Gulf to Bay Boulevard at Cross Boulevard in Clearwater is back open after a collision between a vehicle and a truck carrying pesticide shut down westbound traffic for a few hours, public safety spokeswoman Elizabeth Watts said.
About 15 to 20 gallons of pesticide spilled about 10 a.m., but it did not pose a health hazard, Watts said. Crews had to clean up the spill before the road could reopen.
Clearwater police cited the driver of the pesticide truck, Thomas Frey, for careless driving, Watts said. A passenger in the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
