WESLEY CHAPEL - The Suncoast Arts Fest found a new home this year at The Shops at Wiregrass.
Mall traffic was up an estimated 30,000 people because of the festival. Organizers attributed the event's success to the new location.
More than 80 artists and craftsmen participated in the weekend event. In addition to artwork, there was live entertainment ranging from classic and folk rock to blues, and reggae to polka. Public radio station WMNF, 88.5 FM, broadcast live from the event.
Among the performers was the Spotlight Kids Show Choir, which is based in Trinity and made up of children ages 4 to 8 from Pasco County.
The choir will travel to Hawaii in July to represent Florida in Hawaii's 50 years of statehood celebration.
In addition, there was a kids art tent and an emerging artists area, with works of students in grades 10 through 12 displayed.
