Bucs' FB Storer has 'major' setback in comeback

TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have suffered their first setback of the offseason and it's a relatively significant one.

Fullback Byron Storer has suffered what the Bucs are calling "a significant setback'' in his attempt to come back from the season-ending knee injury he suffered last Oct. 12 against Carolina.

Neither the Bucs nor Storer's agent would offer up details of the latest injury, but Bucs coach Raheem Morris said the setback is such that he has no idea when Storer will return.

"I don't want to tell you exactly what it is because I don't know,'' Morris said of Storer's injury. "It's a major setback and he won't be back for a significant amount of time.''

Though it's early in the offseason, Storer's loss could prove problematic for the Bucs. The team was already rather thin at fullback, where journeyman Jameel Cook is the only notable player behind projected starter B.J. Askew.

The loss last year of Storer, who tore his right anterior cruciate ligament, forced lead back Earnest Graham to eventually take snaps at fullback as a replacement for both Storer and Askew.
