WEEKI WACHEE - Deputies searched by air and ground for hours today to find a sexual predator who removed his GPS ankle monitor.
Authorities began their search when Scott Hamblin's probation officer reported his disappearance. Hamblin was spotted around 1 p.m. in the area of an old abandoned hotel on north U.S. 19, near The Heather subdivision.
Deputies fanned out in the woods and deployed a tracking dog to aid in the search. He was eventually captured around 3:30 p.m. on Lake Drive.
Records show that Hamblin was convicted in 1999 in Pasco County as an accomplice to sexual battery on a child under 12.
