BROOKSVILLE - Responding to "many, many complaints," police launched a sting on Tuesday to cut back illegal sales of alcohol to minors.
Police used an undercover informant younger than 21 to go into the stores and purchase alcohol. The cashiers arrested either failed to check ID, or checked ID and sold the alcohol anyway, according to a report.
Out of the 14 stores targeted, police say these establishments were involved in the illegal sales:
Shop and Save — 9020 Cobb Road, Brooksville.
Chevron Gas — 717 S. Broad St., Brooksville.
Marathon Gas — 600 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville.
Hales Liquor — 1010 E. Jefferson St., Brooksville.
Sunoco Gas — 765 Broad St., Brooksville.
Noreon Food — 19275 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville.
Police say these were the clerks arrested on a charge of sale of alcohol to a person under the age of 21:
Mohammad Hatem, 52.
Barbara L. Skikus, 54.
Christine Gardner, 34.
David Nemec, 55.
Dawn Bartosek, 29.
Judith Champion, 50.
