A grass-roots campaign encouraging women to get screened for heart disease has been launched by the Women's Heart Health Foundation.
The idea in recruiting groups of four is based on the fact that one in four American women dies of heart disease.
Screen 4 encourages women to team up in groups of four to either be screened by their health care providers, or by finding a local center online at www.sistertosister.org. Buying a do-it-yourself screening kit, at a discounted rate, is another option.
As an incentive, the Sister to Sister organization will donate one free screening for every team of four that signs up for the online challenge. The screening looks for blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI and waist circumference.
