Widespread thunderstorms in a line from south Texas to the Great Lakes is causing delays at several airports in the eastern United states, including Tampa International Airport.
At 2:40 p.m., the storms had moved into Atlanta, a major airline hub, where officials at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport stopped takeoffs and landings. The delays are affecting Tampa International travelers who have connections through Atlanta.
At least one aircraft, AirTran flight 118, had been delayed since noon, waiting for weather to clear. Delta Air Lines also listed on its Web site that flights from Tampa were also being delayed.
