Good Samaritan catches Bradenton purse snatcher

BRADENTON - A good Samaritan chased and caught a man who had snatched a woman's purse as she was walking to her car in a Wal-Mart parking lot last night, then held the robber down until deputies arrived to arrest him.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report:

The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at 2911 53rd Ave. E. in Bradenton.

The woman was walking to her car after shopping when a man ran by and grabbed the purse from her arm. The woman screamed and someone nearby heard her and took off after the robber. The good Samaritan chased the robber through the parking lot and onto 53rd Avenue East, where the robber fell. The good Samaritan jumped on top of the robber and held him down until deputies arrived.

The woman who had her purse stolen received minor injuries in the incident. Everything in her purse was recovered except her cell phone.

Antoine Deeb, 31, of Miami, was arrested and charged with robbery.
