Two men were rescued from a sinking boat about 7:30 this morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
The men left St. Petersburg about 6 a.m. in an 18-foot boat and headed toward Williams Park in south Hillsborough County, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. The boat started taking on water and the bilge pump would not work, so the men called 911, Carter said.
The sheriff's office and the Coast Guard found the boat near the Big Bend power plant and towed it to the Hillsborough side of Tampa Bay, Carter said.
No one was injured, Carter said.
The men's identities have not been released, and no information has been released on why the boat was taking on water.
