Mom, tot rescued from waters off Florida Keys

ISLAMORADA - The Coast Guard says a woman and her young daughter were found in the waters off the Florida Keys this week, after they tried to swim to shore when their boat ran out of gas.
Kerry Harrison and her 2-year-old were both wearing life jackets when a boater picked them up Wednesday. Jim Olive, acting commander of Coast Guard Sector Key West, says he is "extremely grateful" the mother and daughter were both located alive.
The pair had left Key Colony Beach a day earlier. They were bound for their home in Marathon, but never arrived.
The boat ran out of gas shortly after they departed Tuesday and then drifted throughout the night. Harrison and her daughter began to try and swim to the shore in the morning.
