LAND O' LAKES - Phillip Kupczyk, an assistant principal at Crews Lake Middle, has been named the new principal at Hudson Middle.
The Pasco County School Board approved Kupczyk's promotion Tuesday and he was to assume his new duties Wednesday.
Kupczyk succeeds Steve Van Gorden, who transferred to become principal at Zephyrhills High.
Kupczyk has worked for the Pasco County School District since 1998, when he was hired as a teacher at Calusa Elementary. He later taught at Chasco Middle and in 2005 became an assistant principal at Seven Springs Middle.
In 2008, he transferred to Crews Lake Middle to help open that new school, which is finishing its first year.
Kupczyk holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in educational leadership. Both degrees are from the University of South Florida.
