Regarding the Sen. Mike Bennett builder or growth bill passed by the Legislature but opposed by all four senators representing the Tampa area and its suburbs, along with Polk County Sen. Paula Dockery:
Refer to The Tampa Tribune editorial May 10, "New growth bill needs fast burial."
Allowing this bill, which would authorize unplanned urban sprawl and increased burdens on Florida taxpayers, to become law is fundamentally a litmus test for Gov. Charlie Crist. Exactly where does his allegiance lie? Does he really care if the citizens of Florida will "let" him represent them in the U.S. Senate? If he does, then he will veto this bill.
If he does not protect undeveloped Florida and its citizens with the veto of this very transparent promotion of unsupervised growth, voters beware!
