PRODUCT REVIEW: Mega-T Green Tea Gum; available at Albertsons, Eckerd, Kmart, Wal-Mart and Publix; $2.99 for 12 pieces.
I'd like to get the benefits of drinking green tea without actually, you know, drinking it. So the idea of getting those antioxidants in a piece of sugar-free chewing gum is appealing. Various studies have indicated that green tea can inhibit some cancer cells, lower cholesterol levels, and help with rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, infection and impaired immune function.
I chew a lot of gum - I always pop a piece when I run in the morning, and gum helps me from chomping on snacks all day long. Though Mega-T Green T Gum isn't as tasty as my regular fruity choices, the minty taste isn't bad, and it stays flavorful for as long as most brands do. (Please note: There is a warning on the package that Mega-T is not for children under 12 years old.)
I can't tell if the green tea ingredients are doing any good, but it's worth putting Mega-T in the gum rotation.
