A number of Tampa Bay area professionals in health care and academia recently have been honored. That includes:
•University of Tampa assistant nursing professor Kathleen C. Ellis received the 2009 American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Allied Health Professionals Recognition Award. Ellis specializes in pediatrics, management, leadership and care of children with asthma.
•Johnathan M. Lancaster, director for The Center of Women's Oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, won the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists' Basic Science Award. He directed recent genetic research that is helping patients build resistance to chemotherapy, a major impediment to long-term survival for patients with ovarian cancer.
