A springtime tour alerting baseball fans to skin cancer risks reached about 44,000 fans across the state.
The Tampa Bay Rays and the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute's sun safety tour stopped at six baseball venues in February and March and screened 695 people. Screeners found 411 suspected cancerous lesions and suspected precancerous lesions or moles were found, including three suspected melanomas.
Those results show an overall 10 percent increase in suspected cancerous lesions and suspected precancerous lesions or moles as compared to last year's tour. For more information, go to: www.moffitt.org/springswing.
