TAMPA - Capping a passing frenzy, Jesuit quarterback Bobby Eveld hit Ben Gutowski on a 14-yard touchdown pass with 21.7 seconds remaining, lifting the Tigers to a 27-25 jamboree win against home-standing Alonso.
In the second matchup, Sickles held off the Leto Falcons 2-0. Gryphons interior defenders Eric Taris and D.J. Olusanaya stuffed Leto running back Terek Greensberry for the safety.
In a half, the Tigers and Ravens combined for 446 passing yards and seven TD passes.
Eveld was nine of 17 for 202 yards and four TDs. Alonso's C.J. Bennett was 15 of 22 for 244 yards and three scores, while Ravens receiver Justen Davis had five catches for 111 yards.
Alonso led 25-13, but let the Tigers back in it on a fumbled punt (leading to Eveld's 25-yard TD pass to Gutowski). Jesuit got its winning TD drive when a 90-yard kickoff-return score by Alonso's Jameel Gay was negated by a penalty, then Bryce Walker intercepted Bennett, setting up the Tigers at the Ravens' 33-yard line with 1:32 remaining.
