TAMPA - Tampa Catholic running back Henry McCloud ran for 125 yards in two quarters as the Crusaders won a shootout with Mulberry 17-14 in the first half of a spring jamboree at Spoto.
In the second half, Spoto dominated Lennard, 21-0, as Danny Taylor ran 36 yards for a touchdown.
Tampa Catholic and Mulberry put on a scoring display in the opener, with former Bucs quarterback Doug Williams and University of Tennessee coaches Lane and Monte Kiffin watching.
Mulberry running back Trent Thomas scored on a 10-yard run the first time he ran the ball.
Tampa Catholic's McCloud came right back, scoring on a 75-yard run one minute later.
One minute later, Mulberry quarterback Tony Brown hit John Minniefeld on a 67-yard strike to put Mulberry up again, 14-7.
Tampa Catholic quarterback Christian Queen found Joe Ogle for a 56-yard touchdown. Kicker Mike Paleveda hit a 22-yard field goal with 32 seconds left to give the Crusaders the win.
