Nick Calathes is bypassing his final two seasons at Florida to play in Greece, sources close to the former UF playmaker told the Orlando Sentinel.
Calathes, who has dual citizenship and a Greek passport, reportedly agreed to terms Friday to play for Panathinaikos, the reigning Euroleague champion. Calathes played last summer on a Greek FIBA 20-and-under national team. His brother Pat, who played at Saint Joseph's, played for Maroussi in the Greek Euroleague last season.
FSU falls to Tech
Luke Murton hit a three-run homer, Tony Plagman also connected and Georgia Tech beat Florida State 9-2 to avoid being swept at the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.
Jason Stidham hit a solo homer for FSU (42-15). The game was meaningless for the Seminoles, who had clinched a spot in today's league title game by starting 2-0 in the round-robin event.
