SEFFNER - A mechanical problem caused a fire that damaged six vehicles at Seffner Christian Academy early this morning, investigators say.
Five buses and one recreational vehicle were badly burned by the fire that started at 5:50 a.m., according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.
It took less than an hour to put out the fires at the school on U.S. 92. At least two of the buses were completely gutted by the flames.
Authorities used an arson dog to help rule out foul play.
No one was injured in the fire. The school year ended Thursday.
"It's something to take in stride," school business administrator Mark Canterbury said. "School's out for the summer, so we have some time (to) process."
Officials for the 20-year-old private school snapped photos of the damage this morning. They say the vehicles are insured.
Tribune reporter Michele Sager and TBO.com producer Kevin Brady contributed to this report.
