TAMPA - Police on Sunday arrested a 19-year-old man accused in a May 5 carjacking at International Plaza.
Deangelo Harris, of Brandon, was arrested at an apartment at 4316 Mariners Cove about 1 a.m. on charges of kidnapping with a firearm, carjacking with a firearm and attempted felony murder. He is being held in the Orient Road Jail without bail.
According to an arrest report, Harris approached a woman outside the mall as she was getting into her car, forced his way inside and told her to move to the passenger seat.
He then drove out of a parking garage and around the perimeter of the mall. He hit her the woman on the head with his pistol, shoved her out of the moving car and drove off, the report states.
The woman's wrist was broken, police said.
An informant told police that Harris had been driving the car, which police recovered on Thursday.
The arrest was the latest in a series on carjackings and attempted carjackings near Kennedy and West Shore boulevards during April and May. Six people were attacked in those incidents.
