TAMPA - University of South Florida guard Dominique Jones has been invited to the 2009 USA Basketball World University Games Team training camp, June 16-24 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Jones is among 17 players invited that will compete for 12 roster spots on a team that will compete at the World University Games tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, from July 2-12.
A rising junior, Jones has led the Bulls in scoring his first two seasons. He was the first USF sophomore to reach 1,000 career points in only two seasons.
Jones is one of four Big East players invited along with Villanova's Corey Fisher, West Virginia's Da'Sean Butler and Marquette's Lazar Hayward.
The Big Ten, with five players, is the only conference with more representatives. Other conferences represented: Big 12 with three players, ACC two and the Pac-10 and SEC one each. There is still one other player to be announced.
The team is coached by Wisconsin's Bo Ryan. His assistants have not been named yet.
