AVON PARK - An Avon Park woman was released from jail Wednesday on a $1,000 bond following her arrest on allegations that she stole money from a local Wal-Mart while employed there.
Tracy J. Myers, 37, of 33 N. Brentwood Circle, Avon Park, was charged with grand theft of $300 or more but less than $5,000.
On April 5 and May 22, Myers, who was employed as a Wal-Mart cashier, allegedly stole money from her register. On the first incident, she took $250, as well as an additional $114.90 on the second date, according to the arrest report. The total amount of money stolen was $364.90.
The stolen money was discovered by Wal-Mart's loss prevention manager, who routinely investigates drawer outages. During the investigation, the manager looked at footage from the store's closed-circuit television digital monitoring system and reportedly saw the suspect stealing the money on the two dates, the report stated.
Myers allegedly admitted to taking the money.
Avon Park Police Officer Allison Smith made the arrest.
