NEW PORT RICHEY - Gulf offensive coordinator Brian Wright was only looking for a few things heading into spring football practice - a backup quarterback and help on the offensive line.
During Thursday's Green and White scrimmage, he found both.
Jacob Jackson completed 10 of 17 passes for 177 yards and a 24-yard touchdown to Adrian Golden, but his Green team lost to the White team 22-16.
Madison Burr, who will be the Bucs' starting quarterback for a third season this fall, was 10-for-15 for 121 yards. He threw a game-winning 3-yard pass to Leon Orr.
Burr, who will be a senior, also rushed for two scores and intercepted two passes.
Golden, who set a Pasco County rushing record last year, was held to 26 yards on nine carries for the Green team before leaving with an arm injury.
Brandon Harvey, a transfer from Largo, rushed for 80 yards and caught two passes for 49 yards for the White team.
