FORT WORTH, Texas - With the wind hardly blowing and greens pillow-soft, Steve Stricker followed an opening 7-under 63 with another Friday morning, giving him the 36-hole record and a one-stroke lead at the Crowne Plaza Invitational.

Stricker's 14-under 126 broke the previous mark by two strokes, further proof of how tame Colonial Country Club is playing.
Kenny Perry set the midway record in 2005, on his way to a 72-hole record of 261.
Tim Clark and Woody Austin also shot 63s on Thursday, but only Stricker played in the afternoon. Clark had a 64 for second place at 127, while Austin had a 68 and is five back. Vijay Singh (64-128) is third, while Sean O'Hair (64-129) is fourth.

CHAMPIONS: Tour newcomer Olin Browne, native Iowan Lonnie Nielsen and Bruce Vaughan are tied for the lead at 4-under 67 after the opening round of the Principal Charity Classic in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Eleven others were within one shot of the lead, including Nick Price, Fred Funk and Tom Kite. Two-time defending champion Jay Haas shot 1-over 72.
