Manatee County sheriff's deputies are investigating two armed robberies that occurred early this morning, one in Bradenton and one in Palmetto. In both incidents, the victims were injured.
The first occurred in the 600 block of 58th Avenue Drive E., in Bradenton shortly before 2 a.m. A man, whose name is not being published to protect his identity, stepped outside his home for a smoke and was approached by two men, one armed with a black pistol, deputies said.
The two robbers beat the victim, causing a cut over his left eye, deputies said. They took his wallet, which contained about $200 and fled north on Seventh Street East in a dark blue four-door Chevrolet Lumina
The second robbery occurred just after 2 a.m. at 900 21st St. E. in Palmetto, deputies said.
The victim was confronted by two men who got out of a white Chevrolet Caprice Classic. The victim suffered a cut to his right arm during the struggle. He was treated at Manatee Memorial Hospital and later released.
The robbers got away with the man's wallet, which contained $200, deputies said.
