Progress Energy will Twitter storm information

ST. PETERSBURG - When will power be restored at your home? Progress Energy is updating storm restoration efforts on Twitter.
The social networking tool can be accessed from most mobile phones, enabling communication after a storm if power is out. Users can search for Progress Energy on Twitter's Find People.
Customers can also view maps showing power outages at www.progress-energy.com/outagemap.
Progress Energy customers who lose power can obtain the same information available to customer service associates by calling the 24-hour automated outage line at 800-228-8485.
It is also the fastest way to report a power outage, and offers to call back customers if updates are available when power will be restored. The state-of-the-art technology can handle more than 125,000 calls per hour during widespread outages.
