Man in critical condition after St. Pete fire

ST. PETERSBURG - A man is in critical condition after firefighters found him unconscious on the floor of a burning house this morning.

The man, 51, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with first and second degree burns, St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters were called to the house at 4810 6th Ave. N. at 8:41 a.m. and found flames and smoke coming from a front room. They found the man in a back bedroom.

The fire department estimated the fire caused $25,000 in damage to the house. Inspectors said the fire was accidental.

The fire department did not identify the man.
