Car strikes bicyclist on Bruce B. Downs

TAMPA - Officials had to close southbound lanes of Bruce B. Downs at Bearss Avenue today after a car hit a bicyclist, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
The victim, who wasn't identified, was taken to the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, the sheriff's office said.
The accident happened just before 6 p.m. The road was closed for about an hour as officials treated the victim and investigated the accident, the sheriff's office said.
