TAMPA - University of South Florida WR Carlton Mitchell (ankle) is "day-to-day," while backup CB Tyson Butler (knee) will miss the Bulls' next game - Nov. 12 at Rutgers - Coach Jim Leavitt said.

"It's a sore ankle or a sprain. It's not broken," Leavitt said of Mitchell, who leads the Bulls with 29 receptions for 542 yards and four touchdowns. "The only guy who is out for this game is Tyson Butler. Everybody else has a shot. The other guy would be Carlton, and we're going to go day-by-day. The rest of them are all going to be fine. Everybody else is going.

Butler has played in every game this season, registering 11 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.

WILSON HONORED: Senior LB Kion Wilson, who has been battling a groin injury, was named the Big East Conference's defensive player of the week. In USF's 30-19 win against West Virginia, Wilson had a game-high 12 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, and an interception.

Wilson, who didn't practice last week leading up to the WVU game, was held out of Monday's workout. With the Bulls off this week, the extra rest will help Wilson get ready for Rutgers.

"He's really sore," Leavitt said. "He'll be fine by game time, though. Could he play today if he had to? Probably, but it'd be hard. He needs time and rest."

Wilson leads USF with 61 tackles. The defensive playmaker also has five tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

ODDS AND ENDS: The Bulls, while not ranked in either The Associated Press or Coaches' polls, are No. 25 in the BCS poll. ... QB B.J. Daniels was named to the Big East's weekly honor roll.
