TAMPA - In its most lopsided victory of the season, Lennard (3-5) dominated offensively on the ground and through the air to capture its second district win by shutting out Class 2A-District 5 opponent Steinbrenner.
Behind mobile quarterback Fred Porter, the Longhorns were able to move the ball at will and easily win the battle of time possession.
Porter, always a threat to run, rushed for 86 yards on seven carries, including a 65-yard romp for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The senior QB was just as good behind center by completing 8 of 13 passes for 101 yards, including a 30-yard strike to receiver Demyco Winston to give the Horns a 23-0 lead.
Lennard running back Tevin Abney also had an outstanding night by rushing for 149 yards and two scores.
"(Tevin) had a high ankle sprain and sat for about three weeks, and now with him on the field we're just a lot better football team," Longhorns coach George Edington said. "He's our guy."
Quarterback Christian Carriere led the Warriors (3-6) by completing 8 of 20 passes for 60 yards, and was the leading rusher as well with nine carries for 45 yards.
