NEW PORT RICHEY - If grind it out, every-yard-counts football is your preference, the first 31/2 quarters were for you.
Both teams ran almost exclusively, passing only three times each in the first half.
But, if you like wide-open football and trick plays, you were treated to a feast, as River Ridge (3-6, 1-3) scored three touchdowns in the final 7:42 of the fourth quarter in a dramatic come-from-behind win against Ridgewood (2-7, 0-4).
Both teams successfully converted onside kicks in the fourth quarter.
The first score came when Ridgewood DB Tommy Kinder intercepted a Kenny Toce pass and raced 18 yards for the TD.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Rams scored again, as Cameron Rodriguez ran 30 yards for a 14-0 lead.
That's when the fun began for River Ridge. Starting on their own 24, the Royal Knights abandoned the run for the pass, with Toce ultimately connecting with Tyler Allberry from the 10.
Following a recovered onside kick, Toce threw another TD pass, this time a 21-yarder to Cameron Hokanson.
On their final possession with 1:18 left, Stavros Arianas scored on a 22-yard run.
