Jesuit 42, St. Pete Catholic 7, Final

TAMPA - Robby Garcia rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns to help the Tigers clinch their first playoff berth in three years with a Class 2A-District 5 win against St. Petersburg Catholic at Corral Memorial Stadium.

Jesuit (8-1, 5-1) won its fourth consecutive game and has outscored its opponents 187-24 during its winning streak. SPC (5-4, 3-3) lost its third consecutive game after starting the season 5-1.

Garcia was held to minus-3 yards on four carries in the first half, but went wild in the second half, rushing 13 times for 106 yards. He scored the game's first TD on a 1-yard plunge with 2:01 left in the first quarter. He added two more scores - from 37 yards and 1 yard - in a three-minute span in the third to make it 35-7.

Tigers quarterback Bobby Eveld was 12-for-20 for 211 yards and two touchdowns. He threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ben Gutowski (three catches, 73 yards) on his final attempt of the first half, and a 19-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Walker (four catches, 86 yards) on his first attempt of the second half.

Jesuit's Rusty Davis added a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Jesuit plays against rival Tampa Catholic next.
