TAMPA - Hillsborough, led by senior quarterback Tarean Austin, dominated King to clinch a playoff berth.
Senior running back Rodney Johnson was the game's leading rusher with 109 yards to help Hillsborough control the time of possession. Johnson also scored on a 12-yard second-quarter touchdown which put Hillsborough up 21-0 with 54 seconds left in the half.
King went three-and-out to give the ball back to the Terriers with less than 10 seconds left in the 2nd quarter.
Austin immediately followed with a beautiful 44-yard touchdown pass to Charles Lovett.
The score put Hillsborough up 28-0 at the half.
Austin finished with 214 passing yards and Lovett added 112 receiving. Senior Terrence Mitchell added 32 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Hillsborough's stout defense held King to 157 yards of total offense. Greg Windham accounted for 87 of those through the air.
The game was laced with penalties. There were a total of 23 penalty flags thrown.
