TAMPA - Luis Rodriguez's 21-yard field goal, his third of the night, gave Leto (2-7) an overtime victory against Middleton (4-5) in a contest that was dominated by defense.
Neither side was able to score an offensive touchdown, with all three touchdowns coming on kick returns.
Middleton's special teams highlighted the first half with a pair of scores. Wendell Lewis gave the Tigers the lead on a 72-yard punt return, and after Rodriguez kicked his first field goal of the game, Justin Sanders returned the kickoff 70 yards for a to give Middleton a 13-3 lead at halftime.
The second half opened in spectacular fashion as Leto's Fred Timmons returned the kickoff 95 yards for a score. A 27-yard Rodriguez field goal tied the game at 13 just before the end of the third quarter. Neither team could break the tie in the fourth, sending the game to overtime.
Middleton won the toss and chose to go on offense first, but the Tigers fumbled to give the Falcons an opening. Rodriguez then booted his 21-yard field goal to complete the comeback.
The victory capped the Falcons' season, while the Tigers will travel to face Jefferson to close the season.
