WESLEY CHAPEL - Of all the ways Zack Wynn envisioned guiding Hudson to a playoff-clinching victory at Wiregrass Ranch, this ending never came to mind.
Leading 17-0 after one quarter, Hudson (5-4, 3-1 Class 4A-District 6) surrendered three unanswered touchdowns to the Bulls and trailed 18-17 with under two minutes left. But Wynn led a 62-yard drive to set up his game-winning 23-yard field goal to clinch the Cobras' third playoff berth in five years.
"No, I didn't think it would be a field goal," said Wynn, who also had two rushing touchdowns and a pair of extra points to score all 20 of Hudson's points. "I was thinking deep fade to (James) Tello. ... But I'll take it."
Tello (six catches, 92 yards) wasn't even on the field during the last drive after re-aggravating a shoulder injury on his last reception. But Dontaie Collins came through with a tough grab in traffic over the middle, shook a tackle and chugged 56 yards to the Bulls 12 to give Hudson a chance.
Wiregrass Ranch's comeback try came on the strength of senior Josh Johnson, who had 141 yards on 25 carries, including a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth to give the Bulls the lead.
