WESLEY CHAPEL - Gulf got in the end zone often on Friday night, on its way to defeating Wesley Chapel.

The Buccaneers (6-4, 3-4) got 262 rushing yards and two touchdowns from running back Will Burbridge. Alphonso Blanch contributed 162 yards and two touchdowns and Madison Burr added three touchdowns.

"With everything we went through this season, this was a good win," Gulf coach Jay Fulmer said. "From the new school (Ancolte) opening to injuries and everything else, to have an above .500 season is remarkable."

Wesley Chapel (3-7, 2-5) struggled to score at first, but prevailed on a 9-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Keegan Tanner to John Ayers. Running back Jon Mahan led the Wildcats offensively, racking up 164 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns.

The Wildcats, who may see the departure of longtime coach John Castelamare this season, hung tough, even getting two kickoff returns: a 92-yarder from Diamon Bagwell to start the third quarter and an 89-yarder from Devon Henry.
