TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed cornerback Mike Mickens from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad and released cornerback Marcus McCauley on Tuesday.
Mickens was a seventh-round pick (227th overall) of the Cowboys in this year's NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He was released Sept. 5 before being signed to Dallas' practice squad the following day.
Mickens left Cincinnati as the school's all-time leader in interceptions with 14, including three returned for a touchdown, while also compiling 233 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, 48 pass breakups, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries while starting in 46 of 47 games he played in.
McCauley was inactive for Tampa Bay's game against New England after being signed on Oct. 20.
