LAKE PLACID - The trick was on a Lake Placid man Halloween night after he reportedly treated a sheriff's deputy to a drunken tirade and was charged with threatening to harm a public servant.

James Christy Hill, 41, was charged with both the second-degree felony and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, first offense. He remained in the Highlands County Jail Monday under a $5,500 bond.

Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy Austin Garza had arrested Hill on the DUI charge and was taking him to jail when the suspect reportedly said he was going to kill him and blow his head off.

The patrol car's video and audio devices recorded all of Hill's comments, according to the arrest report.

"You're going to have to deal with Jim Hill," Garza wrote in the report about what the suspect said to him. "If you want to meet with me somewhere and duke it out I would really love to (expletive) love to beat the (expletive) short (expletive) (expletive).

"And that is something you're going to have to worry about for the rest of your sheriff's department (expletive) career when you take the wrong guy to (expletive) jail."
