TAMPA - A 39-year-old man tried selling counterfeit Coach, Prada and Gucci pocketbooks for $40 each, Tampa police say.

The purses had manufacturer trademarks, designs, emblems and labels.

Tyrone Oliver tried to sell pocketbooks to an undercover officer at 2701 E. Busch Blvd., an arrest report states. He had 28 purses – with a $8,000 retail value – in his vehicle in plain view. He also had a counterfeit pair of $300 Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses.

Officers arrested him about 8:30 p.m. Monday. He was charged with offenses involving forged or counterfeit private labels.

He remains in jail, with bail set at $2,000.
