TAMPA - A single-engine plane flown by a woman over 80 crashed this afternoon at Tampa Executive Airport, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
The pilot and passenger in the plane suffered minor cuts, the sheriff's office said. They were identified as pilot Margaret Davidson, 81, and her husband Donald Davidson, 82, who celebrates a birthday Nov. 13.
They are both from New Haven, Conn., and were arriving in Tampa to attend the Aircraft and Pilot Association Conference, the sheriff's office said.
The Cessna appears to have crashed after its front landing gear failed and the plane slid while attempting to land at the airport, formerly Vandenberg Airport.
