No one's business
A recent letter to the editor asked the question: "Why exactly is gambling always portrayed as being bad?" I also have a question: If adults want to gamble with other adults, all using their own money, why is it any of the government's business or anyone else's business?

Atheists not alone
Regarding the article about the atheist billboards with the message "Don't believe in God? You are not alone...":
Yes, God is watching the atheists, too. I and other believers will pray that in time you (the atheists) will know him, too, and redirect your money and efforts into something more fruitful than erecting billboards. God bless.

Bible the answer
In reference to the billboard in Lakeland stating "Don't believe in God? ...You are not alone": The message is clear. We are not alone. God is with us. Even when people try to deny him, he is among us. Christians have known this since the beginning of creation.
Regarding the posted Web site: I suggest, as God's messengers, we all post our favorite Bible verse. Do the people who conceived this billboard idea want to hold a question-and-answer meeting? All they need to do is read the Bible. That is the answer.

Myopic punishment
In response to Joe Henderson's column about the Florida Gators' Brandon Spikes trying to gouge out the eyes of one of the Georgia Bulldogs, I think he is short-sighted. I have seen the eye-popping clip on ESPN numerous times, and it is eye-catching. Urban Meyer's punishment (half-game suspension against Vanderbilt) is like turning a blind eye to the whole affair.
Trying to blind someone is serious, and Joe's cavalier approach is myopic and shows little insight, foresight or long-range vision. He needs to be more focused on the real issues.
