BROOKSVILLE - The Florida Highway Patrol identified on Thursday a pedestrian who died in an October accident on State Road 50.
Jeffrey Dawson, 31, of Sarasota died Oct. 28 from injuries sustained after three vehicles hit him as he walked along S.R. 50 and Goodway Drive, FHP said.
Dawson was walking west on the south shoulder of S.R. 50, as the driver of a Ford 2005 F-150 pickup truck was heading east.
For unknown reasons, the pickup drove off the roadway and onto the south shoulder, striking Dawson, FHP said.
Dawson landed on the pickup's hood and then landed on the eastbound lanes of S.R. 50. The driver of the pickup truck continued east on State Road 50 without stopping, FHP said.
After Dawson landed on the eastbound lanes of S.R. 50, he was struck by a 2004 Nissan Maxima, then by a 2007 Ford Explorer, the patrol said.
Dawson died at the scene, FHP said.
The case remains under investigation.
