Port seeks commissioner applicants

TAMPA - The Tampa Port Authority nominating committee is seeking applicants for a future commissioner opening designated for a person with a maritime industry background.

The term of port authority commissioner Brian Dolan expires Feb. 6, although he will be permitted to reapply for the nonpaying post.

Applications can be obtained at www.propellerclubtampa .com or by calling Nancy Simms at (813) 225-7227.

Applications must be received no later than Nov. 30 by Lynda Fleming at Holland & Knight LLP, 100 N. Tampa St., Suite 4100, Tampa FL 33602-3644.

Gov. Charlie Crist will select a commissioner from the nominees selected by the committee.

In addition to Dolan's term, the term of port board chairman Larry Shipp expires Nov 25. The governor will choose Shipp's successor.

Also, the term of Hillsborough County's representative on the board, County Commissioner Rose Ferlita, expires this month. The county commission must pick a commissioner to fill the position.
