Bradenton man charged with 49 counts of child pornography

A Bradenton man awaiting trial on rape and molestation charges was arrested in Indiana this week on a warrant from Manatee County charging him with 49 counts of child pornography.

Derrick Faircloth, 39, was arrested in July by Manatee County sheriff's deputies and charged with sexual battery, lewd and lascivious molestation, introduction of obscene materials to a minor and delivering a controlled substance to a minor.

Sheriff's spokesman Dave Bristow said this morning that Faircloth "was drugging these young girls at parties and having sex with them."

In June, deputies got a tip that Faircloth was providing minor females with alcohol and Xanax while attending parties.

Deputies got statements from three girls, ages 14, 16 and 17, saying they were victims. They told deputies he told them he was 25 and showed pornographic movies and photos to the juveniles.

He was released on bail, Bristow said, and is awaiting trial. He was not supposed to leave the state, Bristow said, and deputies continued their investigation and since then, have filed the child pornography charges.

Just after noon on Thursday, authorities stopped a vehicle driven by Fairchild on Interstate 70 in Wayne County in Indiana. A check revealed the warrant issued from Manatee County on the child pornography charges.

He remained in the Wayne County Jail this morning, awaiting extradition to Florida, according to a news report from WQLK radio in Richmond, Ind. No bail was set.
