TALLAHASSEE - For the final time this week, Christian Ponder had to answer questions about his ribs.
The Florida State junior quarterback, who sat out the first two practices this week, said he was "99 percent" after Thursday's practice inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
"I got a lot of work in today," Ponder said. "It was good. I definitely feel a lot better than expected. Yeah, it's sore. But it will be all right."
Even if his bruised ribs didn't feel better than expected, the All-ACC candidate admitted he would likely be taking the field against the Clemson Tigers on Saturday night.
"I knew I would play," Ponder said. "I can't stay off the field. I put my heart and soul into this team and I want to play."
THE C.J. CHALLENGE: Clemson senior C.J. Spiller has already returned three kickoffs (and one punt) for touchdowns this year.
He'll no doubt be trying to add to his resume on Saturday against the Seminoles.
According to kicker Dustin Hopkins, he'll get his chance.
"I think we're kind of taking the mentality that we're not afraid of him," Hopkins said. "I guess we're going to try to go at him a little bit. We're definitely not going to be stupid in certain situations when we don't have to kick it to him."
