NEW PORT RICHEY - A nurse told a 38-year-old patient walking out of Community Hospital he couldn't leave Thursday afternoon because he still had an intravenous catheter in he arm, a police report states.

"You can forget it," the patient, Robert W. Edward, reportedly yelled. "Leave me alone! I'll do whatever I want. I'll give you your stuff."

That's when Edwards ripped the IV from his arm and threw it at the nurse, hitting her cheek and neck which splashed blood on her, police said.

A police officer found Edwards at his home at 7412 Carnival Lane and arrested him on a charge of felony battery on a health care provider.

He is being held at the Land O' Lakes Jail with bail set at $5,000.
