CLEARWATER - A 7-year-old boy was ejected from a sport utility vehicle Saturday after the vehicle ran a red light and struck another vehicle, according to Clearwater police.
At 8:53 p.m., the Ford Explorer carrying the boy was heading eastbound on Cleveland Street when it ran a red light at Belcher Street and struck a pickup truck heading south on Belcher, the police report said.
The 7-year-old was ejected from where he was riding in the back cargo area of the SUV. He was not in a seat, nor was he wearing a seatbelt, the report said.
After being ejected, he was apparently pinned between a light pole and a third vehicle that was hit by the pickup. He was airlifted to an unknown nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
