TRILBY - A 30-year-old woman was arrested by Pasco County deputies Thursday night, accused of driving drunk with two children in the car.
After a deputy pulled over a white 1999 Pontiac Grand Am at U.S. 98 and U.S. 301 in Trilby, he noticed a half bottle of Cuervo tequila and several lime wedges in the center console, a sheriff's office report states. Also in the car were two children, ages 9 and 7, according to the report.
Genoveva Amacenda-Velona did poorly on field sobriety tests, according to the report, and her blood-alcohol level readings were 0.233 and 0.235, nearly three times the 0.08 limit at which the law presumes impairment.
After being read her legal rights, Amacenda-Velona told deputies, through a translator, she had three or four beers, her arrest affidavit states.
Amacenda-Velona, of 37495 Fiesta Road, is being held without bail at the Land O' Lakes Jail on charges of DUI, aggravated child neglect, driving without a valid driver's license and no motor vehicle registration.
